What is the difference between an alert and a notification?

Alerts are enabled by the user and are triggered by driving events like speeding, harsh braking, and entering/exiting a geofence.

Notifications are set up by the user and are triggered by specified alerts to send an email, SMS text, or a push notification via the mobile app.

Notifications and alerts work together to allow you to customize the notifications you receive, and must be set up in both the Alerts Settings and the Notifications Settings on the Setup tab of the desktop portal.

  1. Visit Setup > Alert Settings to enable the alerts that are important to you and set appropriate thresholds for alerts like speeding and idle time.
  2. Use Setup > General Notifications to customize the types of alerts you receive notification of, which trackers those alerts apply to, and how you would like the alerts to be delivered to you (text, email, or push notification).
